Good afternoon Edit: Answered, see below As a short background, we recently got Betrayal at House on the Hill (2nd Edition) and are having an absolute blast with it! I'd recommend anyone try it. We have one question that has divided our players and neither the official Q&A or the Errata or the rule book #explicitly# tell us what to do. Here's the question When someone dies and is holding 'item' Omen cards like the Holy Symbol, or the Book, etc, do they drop those omens in an item pile like item cards, or do they vanish in a fine mist once they die. I'm confident that those omen cards work like items in nearly every way, they can be dropped, traded, or stolen, and fall to the ground just like other mundane items if someone dies.

One of our gamers is convinced that they just vanish if someone dies. They can drop the Omen, trade the Omen, use the Omen while they are alive, but if they die it just simply dissapears from exsistance. Basically if they are alive and drop it, then that's okay and they stay on the board; but if they die they go in the discard pile forever lost for that match. Rules I missed somewhere? Number where I can call Wizards of the coast? The answer thanks to See Page 12 of the rulebook, in a little box titled 'What happens to my stuff if I die?' If you die and you have a companion (the Dog, the Girl, or the Madman), its token stays in the room where you died.

Set aside that omen card. If another explorer enters the room, he or she gains custody of that companion (and takes that omen card). When you die, any other items you have drop to the floor. Put an Item Pile token there and set aside those item or omen cards.

Other players can pick up your items (and take those cards). Thank-you, • • • • •. See Page 12 of the rulebook, in a little box titled 'What happens to my stuff if I die?' If you die and you have a companion (the Dog, the Girl, or the Madman), its token stays in the room where you died.

I added the emphasis on the phrase ' or omen cards' in the above quote from the rule book, as I believe this unambiguously resolves your group's question. TL;DR It's totally in the rule book, heh.
