• Click on the + (plus sign) at the bottom. • A Custom Setup named Untitled will appear in the column. • Double-click and give a name to your Custom Setup. • You may change both Page Size and Printer Margins. • Click OK when finished. NOTE: You may delete an unwanted setup.

You may also duplicate a setup by highlighting the Custom Setup in the list and clicking your preference: • Click the – (minus sign) to delete. • Click the Duplicate button to duplicate. • Go to the product menu and click on the Help drop-down menu. Select Licensing and click on Deactivate.

• A confirmation window will open stating, “The application will shut down once the license is deactivated. To run the application again, you will have to reactivate the license. Are you sure you want to deactivate your license?” Click on Yes. • Once deactivation is complete, an activation window will open. Click on Close. • This will open an information window stating, “The application is not licensed and will shut down now.” Click on OK. • The Movie Magic application will now close.

• An email confirming deactivation including the serial number for your activation key will be sent to the email address the user had previously entered in the Contact Information section located within the Help menu of the Movie Magic product. • Go to the Finder (Mac) or Start Menu (PC). • Go to the Applications (Mac) folder or Program Files (PC) folder. • Open the Movie Magic folder.

• Double-click on the folder of the program ( MM Budgeting or MM Scheduling ) to be uninstalled. • Double-click on the UninstallerData folder. • Double click on Uninstall MM Budgeting/Scheduling. • This will open an uninstall wizard that will walk through the remaining uninstallation steps. • Delete any folders that are left over. • The Movie Magic application will now be uninstalled. To group and print Globals together in Movie Magic Budgeting 7 (MMB 7): • In the budget, go to Setup >Globals.

• To sort, click on the column you want to sort. For example, if you want to sort by description, click on Description. Click once to sort and click twice to revert back. • To change the font size, go to File >Print Setup >Print Settings. Select the drop-down to pick a new font size. • To make the margins smaller, go to File >Print Setup >Page Setup.

Adjust the margins in the four fields as desired. • Print your Globals by going to File >Print Setup >Select Report(s).

Make sure the box for the Globals Table is checked. To locate Fringes throughout your budget: • Go to the Topsheet. • Go to Edit/Find on the menu bar. • Click the Fringe tab. • Choose the Fringe you want to find from the Fringe you want to search for on the left side, and click to highlight it. • Under the section labeled Controls in blue on the right-hand side, change the boxes for the ‘Scope’ to say Detail Sheets Only, the direction below that should be Forward, and the Origin should be Entire Scope. • Click on Find in the bottom-right of this window.

• It will find your Fringe, and then use the F3 key to have it continue to find the next and so on. To locate Globals through-out your budget: • Go to the Topsheet.

• Go to Edit/Find on the menu bar. • Click the Text/Numeric tab. • Type the name of your Global in the Find What field. • Check the boxes below for Amount X and Rate.

• Under the section labeled Controls in blue on the right-hand side, change the boxes for the ‘Scope’ to say Detail Sheets Only, the direction below that should be Forward, and the Origin should be Entire Scope. • Click on Find in the bottom-right of this window. • It will find your Global, and then use the F3 key to have it continue to find the next and so on. • On the column header, place the cursor over the vertical border line between any two columns. The cursor will turn into a double sided arrow. • Click and hold down the left mouse button, drag the column in either direction in order to change its width. • Let go of the mouse button when the desired width is reached.

Other columns will move right and left to accommodate the new column size. NOTE: The column title will remain centered regardless of the columns width. The row number column and IND column widths cannot be adjusted. The Currency module will be set up with the U.S.

Dollar as Base Currency with a rate of 1.00000. However, you may adjust this default setup and any currency may be the base with the corresponding rate of 1.00000. NOTE: You may have only one Base Currency with a rate of 1.00000. Subsequent currencies will need to be entered with the appropriate conversion rate. Current currency rates may be found. If you have an international shoot and need to budget in multiple currencies, please see below how to set up additional Currencies for your international shoot: • In the File menu across the top of the application, select Setup >Currency. • Click on the down arrow for the Quick Pick field and select the currency you want to set up.

It will populate in the first available row. • You will only need to enter the rate in the Rate field. • Click OK to complete the process. Repeat as necessary to add any additional currencies. You do not always have to go to the Setup – Currency table first before entering a new currency.

You can start the process while in Details. • Open the Currency (Curr) Column. NOTE: Click on the Cur toggle button at thetop of the Details window.

• The column will open. Type the short name of the Currency you want to use in the Curr field. • You will be asked if you want to add the currency click Yes.

• The Currency Table will open for you to complete the remainder of the information. • Click OK and your new Currency has been added. MMB7 Globals can be sorted back to their original order by choosing sorting options from the header columns in the Globals Table. • When first entered, Globals are arranged by the order in which the user entered them.

• Go to the MMB7 menu. Click on Setup and select Globals�. • Click on the header of the desired column to sort. For this example sort by Name. • To sort the column click on the header. • The header has three sort options: Original Order, Ascending, and Descending.

Clicking on the header will cycle through these sort options. • Click until the original order is restored. On July 20, 2011, Apple released (10.7). Several changes were made in the new operating system (OS) that effect our software.

One of the major changes is the removal of Rosetta technology from the OS. As a result, legacy versions of our software such as EP Budgeting and EP Scheduling will not work on Lion. In addition, new versions of our Movie Magic products will only be compatible with Snow Leopard (10.6) and Lion (10.7). To ensure a smooth transition, please deactivate and uninstall your Movie Magic program before upgrading to Mac OS X Lion (10.7). Once the new OS is installed, you will need to download the new installer from our website: After you download and install the new update you can reactivate your license.

Leaving your Movie Magic license active while upgrading to the new OS will cause the Movie Magic license to work improperly and you will not be able to use the software. This update allows us to move our programs to Java 1.6, making MMS 5 and MMB 7 compatible with OS 10.6 and above. A of the above steps is available on our BroadcastEP YouTube Channel. Download Steps 1. Deactivate your existing license codes for MMS/MMB on your Mac. Uninstall MMS/MMB from your Mac.

Upgrade to macOS Sierra. Download and install the new MMS/MMB version. Activate the new version using your existing license code. Movie Magic Scheduling users please note – if your stripboard has multiple banners in a row, this may cause unintended page breaks in breakdown reports.

There is currently no known workaround if the breakdown sheet is included in a report. We will continue to seek a resolution for this issue. Stripboard and shooting schedule reports appear to work normally. To locate where your MMB and MMS Activations are currently installed: • From the program menu, select Help >Licensing >License Details. • The License Details window will appear and provide the Activation and Deactivation History for the License currently in use.

The Activation/Deactivation History includes: • Computer Name where License is installed (listed as cwpsup72 in the example below) • Date of occurrence • Time of occurrence • Activation ID/License Number • Number of Activations remaining • Date of current Activation for machine under use NOTE: In order to access the License Details screen, the program must be in an activated state. If you are unable to access a machine where the program is currently activated, please contact EP Service and Support for additional assistance at 818.955.6300. To locate where your MMB and MMS Activations are currently installed: • From the program menu, select Help >Licensing >License Details. • The License Details window will appear and provide the Activation and Deactivation History for the License currently in use. If EPB asks you to register or purchase the product, it is because the free trial and its serial number were not uninstalled before installing the purchased copy with its own unique serial number.

• To uninstall multiple copies on a computer running Windows, please do the following: • First, back up your own created budgets. • Go to Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs and remove EPB.

• After uninstalling, delete the following: • Go to C Drive/Program Files, and right-click and delete the EP folder (if you have EP Budgeting as well, then open the EP folder and right-click and delete only the EP Scheduling folder–if not, delete the whole EP folder). • Go to C Drive/Documents and Settings/User folder (your name should be on it). • Right-click and delete the EPDATA folder. • Reinstall the program using your purchased serial number. In Movie Magic Budgeting 7 on macOS, due to a conflict caused by a Java upgrade, minimizing the budget pane or sheet pane using the yellow minus icon in the top left of each pane is disabled.

Note: Minimizing the entire application still works normally. How do I Switch and Arrange Budgets?

The first objective is to download the Movie Magic installer from the Entertainment Partners website. Switch between budgets using the Window menu. Arrange budgets with the Tile and Vertical Arrange). A video walkthrough can also be reviewed on our BroadcastEP Youtube account. MacOS systems with both integrated and discrete graphics cards are likely to encounter performance issues with MMB 7.7.2217 or MMS 6.2.0402 or later. This is due to the system forcing use of the discrete (high performance) graphics card.

Before installing, how do I check if my computer has both graphics cards? • Open “System Preferences”. • Go to “Energy Saver”.

• Check if there is an option for “automatic graphics switching”; if so, your computer does have integrated and discrete cards and may run in to performance issues with updated Movie Magic products. If I’ve already installed, how can I find out if my graphics card is running into these issues? • Open your Movie Magic product on your Mac. • Open “Activity Monitor”, following the steps outlined. • Click on the “Energy” tab on the Activity Monitor. • Look under the “Requires High Perf GPU” for your Movie Magic product.

• If it shows ‘yes’ then the system is using the discrete card and may have performance issues. We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of new versions of Movie Magic Budgeting and Movie Magic Scheduling that are compatible with macOS High Sierra. The new versions also include stability and compatibility improvements (e.g.

Updating to Java 8). Download and installation instructions for the new builds are included below. Minimization of the budget or sheet panes is disabled in Movie Magic Budgeting for Mac due to a known issue with Java 8. However, you can still minimize the whole window, and arrange budgets with the Tile and Vertical options.

You can also switch between open budgets using the Window menu. Please to view materials on how to work around this issue. • Delete the SysProp.xml file. For Mac: • Navigate to the Applications folder on the hard drive. • Open the EP folder.

• Open the EP Budgeting folder. • Open the config folder. • Delete the SysProp.xml file. • A new SysProp.xml file will be created once the program is reopened. Budget files should now appear normally. To successfully open a Classic Movie Magic Budgeting (CMMB) file in Movie Magic Budgeting 7 (MMB7) in Windows: • Open Movie Magic Budgeting 7.

To open view/apply fringes and view/apply groups modules in EP Budgeting (EPB): For Windows: • Close the EP Budgeting program completely. • Go to My Computer >C: Drive >Program Files >EP >EP Budgeting >Config folder. • Delete the SysProp.xml file. • Reopen EP Budgeting and open the Fringe or Groups box.

For Mac: • Close the EP Budgeting program completely. • Go to the Hard Drive >Applications >EP >EP Budgeting >Config folder. • Delete the SysProp.xml file.

• Reopen EP Budgeting and open the Fringe or Groups box. To perform a License reset for MMB/MMS: • Launch the program after installation has been completed. The Activation Wizard will populate. • Click on Activate License. • Enter your Activation ID/License number and click Next. • A window will appear stating that there are no Activations remaining.

The License Number Recovery window will appear. The message will prompt you to deactivate one of the existing installations (if available), or give you the option to perform an emergency reset of one of the Activations already in place. Select the machine you wish to reset and select Reset Activation.

NOTE: You are only able to perform an Emergency Reset every 90 days. • You will then receive a Reset Activation Confirmation window. If you would like to proceed with the Emergency Reset, select OK. • An email with a PIN will be sent to the email address associated with the Activation ID/License number.

You will need this PIN to complete the Reset Activation process. • You will be taken back to the License Activation Wizard screen, where you will be prompted to enter your PIN.

Once your PIN is entered, select Next. • Follow the License Activation Wizard steps to activate the License. To successfully install MMB Version 7.6.2212 on Mac OS X, the previous version of MMB must be and. Next, on several folders inside of the previous MMB installation must be changed prior to installing the next release. • • • Deactivating The first objective is to deactivate the current MMB license. • While inside of MMB, navigate to the product menu and click on Help. • Go to Licensing.

• Click on the License Details option. MMB will connect to the server and the license information will be displayed. • Write down the License Number.

This number will be used when installing the new release. • Click the Close button. • Go back to the product menu and click on Help. • Go to Licensing. • Click on the Deactivate option.

A window will appear saying the application will shut down after the license has been deactivated. • Click the Yes button. • Click the Close button. Uninstalling MMB The next objective is to uninstall the current build of MMB from the Mac. • Open the Finder window and navigate to the /Applications/Movie Magic/MM Budgeting/Uninstall_MMBudgeting folder. • Open the Uninstall MMBudgeting file.

A window will appear with a reminder to first deactivate MMBudgeting. • Click the Yes button. The Uninstall MMBudgeting window will appear. • Click the Uninstall button. Once the uninstall process has finished, the screen will display Uninstall Complete. Any items that could not be removed during the uninstall process will also display. Since a new build will be installed, it is OK leave these items.

• Click the Done button. Changing Permissions The last objective is to change the permissions on the necessary MMB folders. This process will ensure a successful install of MMB Version 7.6.2212. • Log in to the Mac machine as an administrator. • Open the Finder window and navigate to the /[Hard Drive Name]/Applications/Movie Magic folder. • Right click (or Apple click) on the Movie Magic folder and click on Get Info.

• Navigate to the Sharing & Permissions section of the information window. In the Privilege column for everyone, select Read & Write. • Under Sharing & Permissions, click the Gear icon. NOTE: If the Gear icon or other items in the Sharing & Permissions section are unavailable, click the Lock icon and enter in the account password.

• Click on the Apply to enclosed items option. A confirmation window will display. • Click the OK button. • Repeat steps 3–6 for the following folder: /[Hard Drive Name]/Users/[User Name]/MMData Once finished, MMB Version 7.6.2212 can be installed successfully. For assistance installing Movie Magic Budgeting, please view our guide. To print a one-page Topsheet in EP Budgeting (EPB): For Windows: • From the EP Budgeting menu, click File and select Print Setup from the drop-down menu. • From the Print Setup window, select the Page Setup tab.

• Adjust the Top and Bottom Margins to a smaller value than what is currently in the boxes. Note: Program will warn if you adjust smaller than.6 for Top and.7 for Bottom you might experience some issues with the display of the header and footer if you are using a header and footer. For Mac: • From the EP Budgeting menu, click File and select Print Setup from the drop-down menu.

• In the Print Setup window, click on the Page Setup button. • In the Paper Size section, click the down arrow to open up a list of Paper Size options.

• In the list of Paper Size options, select Manage Custom Sizes. • In the Custom Paper Sizes window, adjust the Top and Bottom section to a smaller value than what is currently in the boxes. • Save the custom size by clicking the OK button.

• Use this new size for printing. Note: The Mac does not show a warning as does PC. However, if you experience any issues with headers or footers, please readjust your margins.

Font (Both Mac and Windows): • Using a smaller font is also suggested for one-page printing. The default size is 8 pt. Try 7 pt at first and continue reducing as necessary. • Under Format Option, be sure to check the box for Text Wrap.

To print the currency column when it is grayed out in EP Budgeting (EPB): • In the Print Setup window, a problem will occur so that the Currency checkbox is grayed out and unselectable. • From the main EP Budgeting menu, click the Edit drop-down menu and select Find.

• In the Find window, select the Currency tab. • Click the drop-down arrow of the Scope menu on the far right of the window and select Detail Sheets. Use the F3 key on the keyboard to keep going through the budget to locate the next one.

Delete each currency found. • Once the currencies in the detail sheets have been deleted, the option to uncheck print currency in print setup becomes active.

To remove the equal sign in the rate and amount fields in EP Budgeting (EPB): • With an EPB budget open, click on Edit in the main EP Budgeting menu and select Select All. This will highlight the Topsheet.

• Go to Edit >Copy. • Go to File >Create Blank Budget. • When the blank budget form opens, go to Edit >Paste. This will paste the budget into a new blank budget. • Go to File >Print Setup. • In the Format Option section at the bottom of the Print Setup window, click the Page Break drop-down menu arrow and select Per Report. • In print preview or print now, the equal signs will now be removed.

• If you would like to make a sub account, you may do so but only on the Accounts Level. • As a work around, for the Details Level you may set up a Sets group: • If you want sub accounts with more than two digits, you would change the formatting in the Preferences window as this example shows: • Choose the set width desired: • In this example, the set width was changed to 3: • Then go to the line of Detail and turn on the Set toggle button so the Set column will show. Enter in the set name to add a sub account as shown below. To ensure budget exports from MMB7 to CMMB do not reset the exported account totals to zero: • Go to the MMB7 menu, click on Setup, and select Currencies.

This will open the Setup Currencies Window. • Note the Name and Value Rate for the selected currency (in this case U with a Rate of 1). Click OK to close the window. The user will search for this name duplicated in the budget’s Globals. • Go back to the MMB7 menu, click on Setup, and select Globals. • In the Names column, locate the Currency Name previously noted in the Currency Window to confirm duplication.

(In this example U with a value of 0.) • Once the duplication is confirmed, close the Globals window. • Go back to the MMB7 menu, click on Setup, and select Currencies. • In the Setup Currencies Window, modify the currency Name so that it no longer duplicates the Global Name.

• Press OK to save the change. The user will now be able to export the MMB 7 Budget to CMMB with the account totals. You will be unable to copy between budgets from one Level to another Level in EP Budgeting (EPB). Copy + Paste from one budget to another only works at the same Level. • If you attempt to copy data from the Accounts Level to the Topsheet Level it will not work. • If you copy from the Accounts Level to the Accounts Level in a different budget it will work. • If you attempt to copy + paste between budgets at the same Level but between separate sessions of the program (i.e.

EPB has been launched twice and the two budgets resides in a different session) it will not work. • The two budgets must be open in the same session for the copy + paste from one to another to work. To use Budget Comparison for two or more budgets in Movie Magic Budgeting: • Go to File >Budget Comparison. • Select the relevant budgets to be compared and click the Add button. NOTE: You may compare more than two budgets at the same time. However, it is recommended to compare budgets that have the same account format. • Confirm the correct budgets appear in the Budget List.

You may remove a budget from the list by selecting that budget and clicking the Remove button. • Select the necessary Report Type and View Report By criteria.

Report Type: • Variance Shows the difference in each account with an additional column showing a percentage of change. • Average Shows the average amount of each account. • Both View Report By: • All Accounts Shows all accounts in the current budgets. • Topsheet Shows only accounts visible on the Topsheet.

• Account From/To Specifies a particular account range. • Include Credits Compares any applied credits. • When ready to run the Budget Comparison, click Ok. • The Budget Comparison information will then appear on the screen. The information can be printed or saved to a.pdf file, but cannot be modified. NOTE: If the budgets do not share the same account number range, the Budget Comparison they will be listed in order of account number.

If you need to get information from EPS to EPB there is a way to do it. At the moment there is no direct export from Scheduling, but there is a way to get info into the budgeting program. • In EPS, please go to the Element Manager and choose the Categories that you would like to export.

Choose all the Elements you want, then copy them (CRTL+C or CMD+C). • After you have copied the Elements, open Excel and copy (CRTL+V or CMD+V). • It will copy all the information on the Element; you will need to clean it up a bit as shown in the example. • Now copy this list from Excel and open EP Budgeting. • Here you will go to the 4th level and create a profile for Cast or whatever else it is that you’re importing. Then paste it first cell as in example 2. Example 1 Example 2 • From the 4th level you can copy the needed information in the Detail Levels that you desired.
